Frostproof Gardenia

One of the most recognizable—and rewarding!—plant fragrances

Compared to other gardenias, Frostproof has a more upright habit, is more tolerant of direct sun, and can handle unexpected late-spring frosts without losing all of its flower buds. And what a relief that is!

During the summer, this dense, deer-resistant evergreen is covered with white flowers that give off an intoxicating scent often used in perfumes (bees love it too!). Because of this, you’ll want to plant it near sitting areas—porches, patios, fire pits—where you can enjoy the aroma. In fact, just a small bouquet is enough to fill an entire room with fragrance!
